Eight Step Editing with Jim Taylor
2005-Dec-02
The ever-gracious Jim Taylor proved once again that editors need not be feared. One participant admitted to some pre-workshop jitters when she said, "I thought all those experts in the room would make me feel as though I don't know what I'm doing, or maybe Jim would ask me something I didn't know in front of everyone." Her fears were, of course, unfounded.
Editors of all ages and a wide variety of backgrounds attended Jim's workshop on a chilly December morning. It's a good thing everyone wore layers, because the CMU rooms are notoriously cold.
Jim Taylor has developed a system for editing the most tangled of texts in only eight steps. One participant wrote, "[Jim's technique] will help me in my writing as much as in my editing." Another commented on the usefulness of being able to formalize his approach to editing.
If you have not yet attended Jim's workshop and would like to, let the Events Committe know.
